A viral video that sparked fear across social media has now led to a major breakthrough for security operatives in the Federal Capital Territory.
The FCT Police Command has arrested three men believed to be linked to a group seen displaying rifles, ammunition, and communication devices in a widely shared video.
The development has stunned many residents, especially as the suspects were allegedly operating while dressed in military-style camouflage.
The arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation carried out in Runji Village, Zuba, on the outskirts of Abuja. According to police sources, the operation was launched after the disturbing footage surfaced online and attracted widespread attention.
The suspects were identified as Umar Babangida, 25, Adamu Yeti, 22, and Yahaya Idris, 24. Police said all three are from Kaduna State.
Security officials disclosed that the operation was carefully coordinated after investigators tracked leads linked to the viral video. Consequently, the suspects were located and taken into custody without further incident.
The case has generated significant public interest because the video showed individuals openly displaying weapons and walkie-talkies. Moreover, the suspects appeared confident while posing in military-style clothing, raising concerns among many Nigerians.
According to information released by the FCT Police Command, additional materials were discovered during the investigation. Several images and videos allegedly showing the suspects with firearms and tactical gear were reportedly recovered from their mobile phones.
Furthermore, investigators believe the recovered content could provide valuable evidence regarding the activities of the group.

While the arrests have been welcomed by residents, police say the investigation is far from over. Authorities revealed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend another key figure linked to the group.
The individual, identified only as “Esco,” is believed to be the gang leader. However, he reportedly escaped before the operation was carried out.
Police sources indicated that intelligence gathering has continued across several locations. Therefore, security operatives remain hopeful that the fugitive will soon be captured.
The suspected kidnappers arrested in the operation are currently being held in police custody. Meanwhile, investigators are examining digital evidence recovered from their devices.
In addition, security agencies are working to determine whether the suspects have connections to other criminal activities within Abuja and surrounding communities.
For now, the FCT Police Command has assured residents that efforts are being intensified to protect lives and property.
