The victims were abducted during a deadly attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area. Since then, security agencies have been working around the clock to locate them.

According to a statement issued by the Nigerian Air Force through its spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Governor Makinde disclosed that aerial support was deployed immediately after the incident was reported.

The governor made the disclosure during a courtesy visit by representatives of the Chief of the Air Staff and senior Air Force officials.

According to the statement, the surveillance platform provided valuable intelligence that has continued to support rescue efforts.

The governor explained that information gathered from the air has helped security agencies monitor developments and coordinate operations more effectively.

Moreover, he assured residents that every available resource is being deployed to secure the release of the victims.

Makinde also appealed for patience from members of the public as efforts continue.

He praised the Nigerian Air Force for its rapid response and commitment to the operation.

According to the statement:

“He commended the CAS and the NAF for their swift response and sustained support, noting that the Air Force made the surveillance platform available while Oyo State’s newly acquired aerial assets are still being assembled at the NAF Base, Lagos.”

Furthermore, the governor revealed that Oyo State recently acquired aerial security assets after consultations with the Air Force.

He explained that the decision was taken to strengthen future security operations across the state.

In addition, he expressed confidence that the equipment would improve surveillance and emergency response once fully operational.

Reports indicate that pupils and teachers from Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School were abducted during the attack.

Sadly, one teacher was reportedly killed while in captivity.

Teachers’ unions, civil society groups, and concerned citizens have repeatedly demanded urgent action.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives recently called on security agencies to intensify efforts and ensure the victims return home safely.

Furthermore, President Bola Tinubu approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards and the deployment of a special rescue team following the incident.

Speaking on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Suleh reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to the mission.

According to the statement:

“The NAF remains committed to working closely with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to safeguard lives and property while supporting efforts to address security challenges across the country.”

Moreover, he assured the Oyo State Government of continued support until the situation is resolved.

However, authorities insist that progress is being made through intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations.
