Court Delays Bail Decision as Blessing CEO Remains in Custody Over Alleged N36m Fraud

Popular social media personality Blessing Nkiruka Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, will remain in custody for now after a Federal High Court in Lagos reserved its ruling on her bail application in an alleged N36 million fraud case.

The development has attracted significant attention online, especially as the case continues to generate debate among followers and critics.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed that the matter was heard at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos. The anti-graft agency is prosecuting Blessing CEO over allegations involving obtaining money by false pretence, fraudulent transactions, and the alleged unlawful conversion of funds.

According to the EFCC, the charges stem from a petition filed by a Lagos businessman who accused the social media influencer of defrauding him of N36 million.

During Friday’s proceedings, lawyers representing Blessing CEO urged the court to grant her bail while the trial continues. They argued that she should be allowed to regain her freedom pending the determination of the case.

However, the prosecution opposed the request.

According to the prosecution team, granting bail at this stage could affect ongoing investigative efforts connected to the matter.

After hearing arguments from both parties, the presiding judge declined to give an immediate ruling.

Instead, the court reserved its decision and stated that a date would be communicated for the ruling on the application.

The EFCC has maintained its position regarding the allegations and continues to pursue the case before the court.

Although the charges have generated widespread public interest, the allegations remain subject to judicial determination.

For now, the social media influencer will remain in custody pending the court’s decision on her request for bail.
