A disturbing livestream involving Big Brother Naija winner Ilebaye Odiniya has sparked massive reactions online after the reality TV star appeared with visible facial injuries while crying for help.
The emotional video surfaced in the early hours of Friday and quickly spread across social media platforms. In the livestream, Ilebaye was seen with a swollen face while repeatedly pleading for help. Meanwhile, a shirtless man appeared in the background as the frightening scene unfolded.
“Come and open the door, I want to be going. Please come and help me,” she cried during the livestream.
The FCT Police Command later confirmed that Emmanuel Odiniya, Ilebaye’s father, was arrested following the incident at his residence in Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja.
According to Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh, authorities received a distress report around midnight. Officers from the Wuye Division were then deployed to the location alongside operatives from the Department of Operations.
However, the operation reportedly faced resistance after officers arrived at the residence.
According to the police, the estate gate was locked while “fiercely looking dogs” were allegedly released to prevent officers from gaining entry into the compound.
Police eventually accessed the property around 2:30 a.m. Moreover, officers reportedly found the BBNaija star with visible bruises.
Ilebaye and her brothers were later rescued and rushed to the NNPC Hospital in Abuja for treatment.
“Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya is currently in police custody, while a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident,” Adeh stated.
Meanwhile, Lami Odiniya, the mother of the reality TV star, later confirmed that Emmanuel Odiniya had been released from police custody.
She explained that the incident allegedly started after Ilebaye visited her father’s house to see her younger brothers before her 24th birthday celebration.
According to her, the discussion later became heated after Emmanuel allegedly accused Ilebaye of being influenced by her mother.
In addition, she revealed that the former couple ended their 32-year marriage years ago. She also disclosed that a court had granted custody of their two sons to Emmanuel.
Lami dismissed online claims suggesting that Ilebaye was under the influence of drugs during the incident.
She explained that the reality TV star had been discharged after receiving medical treatment and several intravenous drips at the hospital.
As reactions continued online, fellow BBNaija star Beauty Tukura stepped in to calm worried fans.
Earlier, Beauty had appealed to Nigerians to help locate Ilebaye after the emotional livestream gained attention online.
However, she later reassured supporters that the situation was no longer critical.
According to Beauty, Ilebaye is now safe and “no longer in harm’s way.”
She also noted that details surrounding the incident should be shared by Ilebaye personally whenever she feels ready.
The incident has continued to generate debate across social media. Many users expressed concern about domestic violence, mental health, and family conflict.
Meanwhile, others praised the quick response from the police and emergency teams.
