The newly trained personnel are expected to play a frontline role in tackling criminal activities across Kogi State. Moreover, some of the best-performing officers could soon join a newly created rapid-response unit focused on violent crime operations.

The graduation ceremony took place at the Kogi State Police Command Headquarters in Lokoja. The officers completed months of intensive training that focused on combat operations, weapon handling, discipline, and tactical response skills.

According to the police authorities, the training programme began on April 13, 2026. It was approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu.

Speaking during the passing-out ceremony, Commissioner of Police Nasir Kankarofi described the graduates as capable officers ready to confront security challenges across the state.

He explained that the officers had been equipped with practical skills needed to combat criminal activities. These include banditry, terrorism, armed robbery, and other threats to public safety.

The constables were also encouraged to remain professional while carrying out their duties. Furthermore, they were reminded to respect human rights and maintain strong relationships with the communities they serve.

According to Kankarofi, modern policing requires cooperation between law enforcement agencies and citizens. Therefore, community-based policing remains a key part of the Command’s strategy.

In addition, he revealed that top-performing officers from the training exercise would be selected into the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit.

The specialized squad is expected to respond quickly to serious criminal incidents. It is also expected to strengthen security operations in areas facing increased threats.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for supporting the Command’s training and operational activities.

He also thanked instructors, medical teams, transport personnel, and Police Mobile Force trainers who contributed to the programme’s success.

Addressing the newly graduated officers, Kankarofi urged them to remain disciplined and committed to protecting lives and property.

He stressed that professionalism must guide every action taken by the officers. Moreover, he encouraged them to uphold democratic policing principles at all times.

The police chief also delivered a strong message to criminal groups operating within the state.

“Your days are numbered. These young, able-bodied constables are ready to take the war to you, as we have always done,” he warned.

That statement reflected growing confidence within the Command following the completion of the training programme.

The police constables are expected to strengthen ongoing security efforts across the state.

Meanwhile, residents have been encouraged to support security agencies by providing useful information about suspicious activities.
