The Nigerian Police Force has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against violent crime in Abuja with the arrest of a notorious “One Chance” gang allegedly linked to multiple robberies, kidnappings, and murders.
The operation led to the capture of five suspects, including an alleged gang leader who reportedly boasted for months that he could never be arrested. The development has drawn attention because several victims had reportedly lost millions of naira to the group, while some never returned home alive.
Police sources said the arrests followed months of intelligence gathering and investigations into a series of disturbing crimes that terrorized residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
The operation was carried out by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad of the Force Intelligence Department (STS-FID) following directives from Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s successor, IGP Olatunji Disu, to dismantle criminal networks operating in Abuja.
According to police findings, the suspects were allegedly involved in armed robbery, abduction, extortion, and murder.
The principal suspect was identified as Solomon Haruna Abok, also known as “Solex.”
Police described him as the alleged leader of the gang.
Others arrested include Emmanuel Ibenni, also known as Markfish, David Francis, Abdulmajid Hussain, and Faruk Yusuf.
Investigators identified Yusuf as the alleged receiver of stolen property linked to the gang’s operations.
Meanwhile, police said several victims have already identified the suspects following their arrest.
According to investigators, victims allegedly lost millions of naira after being targeted by the gang.
Among those listed by police were Favour Chioma Onyemachi, who allegedly lost ₦2.5 million, and Debra Okeh, who reportedly lost ₦4.5 million.
Furthermore, Barrister Sandra Nwando Nnamani allegedly lost ₦800,000, while Joan Jonathan was said to have been dispossessed of ₦70,000.
Other victims included Blessing Nature, Favour Chiamaka, Anita Obehi Gbuuga, and Olawatosin Temitope.
Police also revealed that Miss Isah Abdah Ahuozia was among the victims allegedly abducted by the gang.
According to investigators, she was reportedly kidnapped on January 31, 2026.
However, one of the most heartbreaking cases involved the late Chinenye Bridget Okorobia.
Police alleged that she was murdered despite her relatives paying ₦3.5 million to secure her freedom.
In addition, investigators linked the suspects to the death of Chinemerem Paschalina Chuwumeziem, a nurse at FMC Jabi, Abuja.
Authorities disclosed that it took operatives one year and five months to track down and arrest the alleged gang leader.
According to police sources, the suspect had reportedly claimed that he could not be arrested by anyone.
Meanwhile, investigators said the suspects have confessed to several crimes and are cooperating with ongoing investigations.
Furthermore, a blue Honda vehicle with registration number KFU 693AA was recovered during the operation.
An operational knife and black blindfold materials were also recovered. These items are expected to play a key role in the investigation.
Moreover, police believe additional suspects may still be linked to the criminal network.
Therefore, efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest anyone connected to the gang’s activities.
The latest breakthrough highlights the increasing efforts by security agencies to combat organized crime across Abuja and other parts of Nigeria.
