ADC Convention: Peter Obi Flags Worsening Insecurity, Poverty Crisis

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has openly criticised Nigeria’s current leadership over worsening insecurity and growing poverty.

Speaking at the ongoing ADC convention, Obi delivered a blunt assessment of the country’s direction.

He argued that conditions have declined sharply since the present administration took office.

Obi pointed to Nigeria’s global position on insecurity as a major concern. He suggested that the situation has worsened significantly over time.

According to him, the country’s ranking has shifted in a troubling direction. Therefore, he warned that the trend could continue without urgent action.

“Before the current government came in to be, Nigerian rank in t£rr0r!sm was number 8, today, we’re at number 4. if you give them another 4 years, we’ll be number 1,” he said.

This statement has raised questions about national security efforts.

Beyond security, Obi also focused on economic hardship across the country. He stressed that more Nigerians are struggling to meet basic needs.

He explained that poverty levels have increased sharply in recent years. Furthermore, he linked this rise to broader economic challenges.

“When this government also came in to be, our p0verty rate was 41.6 percent, 10 million people, today we’re 63 percent, 140 million people living in p0verty,” he said.

These figures, although debated, highlight growing concerns about living conditions.

Meanwhile, reactions have continued to emerge from different quarters.

However, the issues raised remain central to national discourse.

At its core, Obi’s message focused on urgency. He stressed that immediate steps are needed to reverse current trends.
