Former Big Brother Naija winner Mercy Eke has made a revelation about her dating life, saying she no longer wants a relationship with a man who earns less than she does.
The reality TV star explained that personal experiences shaped her decision after financially supporting former partners.
Speaking during a recent episode of Toke Moments hosted by media personality Toke Makinwa, the entrepreneur made it clear that she has moved on from relationships built on future potential. Instead, she now prefers a partner who is already financially stable.
When asked if she would consider dating a man who earns less than her, Mercy gave a direct answer.
“No, in fact, no, I won’t.”
Furthermore, Mercy revealed that she had financially supported men she had dated in the past.
According to her, helping them felt natural because she had the resources at the time.
When asked whether she had ever given money to former partners, she replied:
“Yeah, not once, not twice.”
She then explained why she made those decisions.
“Because they don’t have, and I have. So… they don’t have, and I have, and I will give, I will share.”
Meanwhile, Toke Makinwa suggested that some people eventually become successful when they receive support from their partners.
However, Mercy said she is no longer interested in taking that path again.
She admitted that she once believed in investing in someone’s future.

Nevertheless, she believes that phase of her life is now behind her.
“I’ve been there, done that. I don’t want to prospect again.”
Her response reflected a major shift in how she now approaches relationships.
Moreover, Mercy clarified that she is not against supporting a partner in difficult times.
She explained that her position would be different if the man had already achieved success before experiencing financial problems.
According to her, loyalty remains important in such situations.
She said:
“If he were a good man, I would be there and I will support him. But if you don’t chop your money before…”
Meanwhile, relationship experts have often noted that money remains one of the biggest causes of conflict between couples.
Therefore, conversations about financial expectations continue to attract public attention.
