A sudden breakthrough has emerged in Kaduna State as security operatives disrupt a dangerous kidnapping network.

The suspects arrest has drawn attention after police confirmed the capture of six individuals linked to multiple abductions.

This development is seen as a strong move against violent crime in the region. However, authorities say more work is still needed to dismantle the entire network.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the arrests were made on April 3, 2026. The operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Special Tactical Squad.

“The Nigeria Police Force, through the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad, has recorded a major breakthrough with the arrest of six notorious kidnapping suspects and the rescue of victims in Kaduna State,” the statement read.

The suspects were identified as Yusuf Shuaibu (23), Abubakar Bature (19), Yau Murtala, Bello Suleiman (19), Abdul Kareem Nuhu (36), and Ahmed Musa (28). They are believed to be part of a well-organised syndicate.

Furthermore, police investigations revealed that the group operated within Kaduna and nearby areas. Meanwhile, the operation did not only lead to arrests.

In addition, preliminary findings showed that the suspects worked within a structured network.

One of the major cases linked to the group involved the abduction of a senior police officer and his son in October 2025. Despite collecting a ransom of N24 million, the victims were not released immediately.

“Police efforts led to the successful rescue of the officer’s son unharmed, while operations are still ongoing to secure the release of the officer,” the Police stated.

Moreover, the suspects were also connected to other incidents, including the kidnapping of a child and members of the same family. In that case, a ransom of N18 million was reportedly paid.

However, the victims were eventually freed through police intervention. Meanwhile, investigations are still ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate. Authorities are also working to recover weapons used in the crimes.
