Two Arrested Over Gun Linked to Ogidi Mene Killing in Delta State

Breakthrough has reportedly emerged in the controversial killing of 28-year-old Oghenemine Ogidi, popularly known as Mine, after two suspects were arrested over the movement of a pistol linked to the incident.

According to reports, one of the suspects is believed to be the person who allegedly sent a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition from Yenagoa to Delta State.

Authorities reportedly believe the firearm later became connected to the fatal shooting involving ASP Nuhu Usman.

Sources familiar with the case said the suspects were moved into the Effurun Area Command under the Delta State Police Command on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, investigations are said to be ongoing as police intensify efforts to track down every individual connected to the weapon movement and the controversial killing.

The Effurun killing investigation has continued to attract public reactions, particularly following allegations that Ogidi was extrajudicially killed after he was intercepted at a motor park.

Although the police have not officially confirmed the arrests, insiders close to the investigation hinted that major discoveries have already been made.

“It’s confirmed. They just brought in two suspects Wednesday night,” a source reportedly told Vanguard.

The source further explained how investigators traced the movement of the firearm from Bayelsa State to Delta.

“It’s not been announced who is who yet, but I can tell you for free that one of them is the person who sent the gun through a transport line from Yenagoa to Effurun, from where Mine picked it to send to a Sapele owner at the Effurun Motor Park where he was caught and extrajudicially killed by ASP Nuhu and accomplices.”

Furthermore, the source revealed that investigators are still trying to determine the role played by the second suspect.

“Like I said, it’s not clear if the other person among the two could be the driver who brought the parcel from Yenagoa. But it’s clear that the sender is among the duo just apprehended. And the trail continues for the other suspects.”

The case has remained highly emotional since reports of Ogidi’s death surfaced online.

Family members of the deceased had earlier demanded justice while questioning the events surrounding the incident.

Moreover, the story gained wider attention after allegations emerged that the victim was unlawfully killed during the operation.

Human rights observers and community members have also continued to call for transparency in the investigation.

Meanwhile, residents in Effurun and nearby communities are closely following developments as authorities widen the probe.
