I Was Trying to Dispose It — Bayelsa Suspected Ritualist Speaks After Arrest Over Human Parts

A disturbing discovery in Bayelsa State has triggered panic online after a man was reportedly caught with suspected human parts in Sagbama Local Government Area.

The Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed that a 40-year-old man identified as Peter Alale has been arrested.

The arrest followed reports linking him to alleged ritual activities after photos and claims spread rapidly on social media.

However, police authorities said investigations are still ongoing to determine the true nature of the recovered items.

According to the police, the suspect was allegedly found with a broken white plate containing what appeared to be human parts.

The Bayelsa police investigation has since attracted major public attention across social media platforms.

Meanwhile, officers disclosed that the suspect denied involvement in ritual activities during questioning. He reportedly claimed that he discovered the items near the Sagbama Council Secretariat Junction at Mile Three.

“The attention of the Bayelsa State Police Command has been drawn to a publication making the rounds on social media with the caption ‘Ritualist Caught with Fresh Human Heart,’” the statement read.

Furthermore, the police explained that the suspect was intercepted while attempting to dispose of the items in a nearby bush.

“Upon interrogation the suspect claimed to have found the suspected human parts at Sagbama Council Secretariat Junction, Mile 3, Sagbama and was attempting to dispose them in a nearby bush before he was arrested,” the statement added.


Therefore, the recovered exhibits have been sent for medical examination and laboratory analysis.

In addition, authorities said the outcome of the examination would determine whether the recovered items are actually human parts.

“Furthermore the exhibits have been recovered for medical examination and analysis to ascertain whether they are human parts,” the police noted.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, CP Iyamah Daniel, has ordered a full investigation into the incident. He also appealed to the public to remain calm as detectives continue their work.

“The Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Command, CP Iyamah Daniel, psc, IICFIP, foosi, has directed a thorough and immediate investigation into the incident and urge members of the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified or sensational information that may cause unnecessary panic,” the statement continued.

Residents in Sagbama were reportedly left shocked after news of the arrest surfaced online.

However, police authorities stressed that no official conclusion has been reached regarding the nature of the items recovered from the suspect.

In recent years, reports involving suspected ritual activities have continued to spark concern in several communities across Nigeria.
