Police Arrest Hoodlums After Lekki Traffic Disruption

A sudden wave of panic swept through parts of Lekki after a viral video showed suspected hoodlums disrupting traffic in broad daylight.

The unexpected incident, which occurred along a busy corridor, quickly drew public attention.

However, calm was later restored as the Lagos State Police Command confirmed that swift action had been taken.

The footage, which circulated widely online, showed individuals obstructing vehicles and creating disorder on the road.

Reacting promptly, the police issued a statement to address the growing tension. “The Lagos State Police Command is aware of the trending video and wishes to inform the general public that it is presently on top of the situation, and necessary actions have been taken.”

Furthermore, the command urged residents not to panic. “Members of the public are hereby urged to remain calm, as the situation is under control,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, further details revealed that a coordinated security response had been carried out shortly after the incident. The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed that a targeted operation was launched to tackle the unrest.

According to Tokunbo Wahab, “Following the videos circulating online with reports of unrest in Lekki today, the Lagos State Commisioner of Police carried out a rapid investigation and launched a sting operation between the axis, Chisco and Osakpa bus stop. This led to successful identification and arrest of a number of hoodlums.”

In addition, authorities emphasized that the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the area.

The Commissioner of Police also reassured residents of continued protection. “The commissioner of Police has assured law abiding citizens that the security of their lives and properties is guaranteed under his watch,” Wahab added.
