Panic swept through Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ogun State after a shocking midnight attack left students injured and traumatised.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, caught many students off guard. Moreover, the attackers were said to have fired gunshots, forcing students to run for their lives. Several valuables were stolen, while others were left injured during the chaos.
Eyewitnesses described the night as terrifying, meanwhile, cries for help echoed across the campus as students struggled to escape the violence.
According to reports, the gunmen, believed to be more than a dozen, invaded hostels at the College of Engineering campus in Ibogun. They reportedly fired shots sporadically, creating confusion and fear among residents. In addition, some students sustained machete cuts and other injuries during the attack.
Personal belongings, including mobile phones, laptops, and cash, were taken by the attackers. Furthermore, a vehicle was reportedly stolen during the raid but was later found abandoned after running out of fuel.

Students who witnessed the incident said the experience was deeply frightening. Many were forced to flee their rooms in panic, while others hid for safety.
However, the Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the incident and assured the public that action is being taken.
Authorities disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer of Ibogun Division, alongside the Area Commander, was deployed to the scene.
Moreover, investigations have been launched to track down those responsible for the attack. Police officials have also reassured students and residents that efforts are ongoing to prevent a recurrence.
Meanwhile, the campus community remains tense as many students demand stronger protection measures.
