The palace further noted that, “All traditional spiritual custodians are strictly mandated to bring all powers and instruments at their disposal to the Palace grounds to lay curses and swear against perpetrators of kidnapping, armed robbery, cult killings, and other evils on July 2nd.”
The development comes at a time when many Nigerians are seeking solutions to growing security concerns.
Although security agencies remain responsible for law enforcement, traditional leaders are often regarded as important partners in promoting peace and social order. However, the latest palace directive stands out because of its direct focus on confronting criminal elements through traditional means.
The Benin Kingdom has historically played a significant role in preserving cultural values and community stability.
