She also spoke about infidelity and changing attitudes among some Nigerian men.

“Nigerian men, they like side chicks so much. Yes oh. I know many Nigerian men do. Immediately they have little money like this, they like side chicks and, uh, yeah, I took you for so many years and, uh, I couldn’t take it again,” she said.

The table tennis star said the abuse became a hidden part of her life for years.

“I was really, really, really physically and emotionally ab*sed. Many people are unaware of this aspect of me. I was physically ab·sed for more than ten years. I was dying and nobody knows,” she said.

Osinaike further alleged that the violence happened regularly, sometimes involving her children.

“But that man really beat me. And I think every two months I would get the beating,” she said.

She said she sometimes sought safety in her children’s room, but alleged the abuse followed her there.

“And sometimes I will rush to my kid’s room. He will follow me to my kid’s room and he will beat me there too,” she said.

Osinaike also recalled seeking help from her pastor during the marriage.

“I reported to my pastor, you know, the Nigerian pastor, the same thing, ‘Keep praying for him,” she said.

Ultimately, Funke Osinaike’s revelation has shed light on a difficult chapter of her personal life that remained largely private.

However, she has now confirmed that the marriage is over and has chosen to speak openly about her experience after years of silence.
