Wrestling fans are mourning Andy “The Butcher” Williams after he collapsed during a match in Pennsylvania.
Williams, a former All Elite Wrestling star, was 48 years old when he died on September 5, 2026.
The wrestler collapsed after his match at an independent wrestling event in Millvale, Pennsylvania.
Medical staff reportedly performed CPR before an ambulance took him to hospital.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner confirmed that Williams died at 9:43 p.m. local time.
His exact cause of death has not yet been established.
All Elite Wrestling announced his death on September 6 and paid tribute to the wrestler and musician.
“A trailblazing musician with ETID and Atomic Rule, Williams made a successful transition into the world of professional wrestling and was incredibly respected by his peers both in and out of the ring,”the promoter wrote.
Williams’ agent also confirmed his death to KDKA-TV.
“He was a wonderful man, and I will miss him every day.”
Enjoy Wrestling said Williams collapsed near the end of his match with Jesse Guilmette, known as The Blade.
According to dispatch audio, Williams allegedly hit his head on a ring post during the match.
Before wrestling, Williams was known for his work with Every Time I Die.
He played with the band from its formation in 1998 until it ended in 2022.
Williams later started Atomic Rule in 2023 while continuing his wrestling career.
Tributes have since poured in from wrestlers and musicians who knew him.
Sammy Guevara remembered Williams as a kind person despite his imposing appearance.
Josh Alexander also described Williams as “one of the best people” he had ever met.
