A driver operating on the InDrive platform has been detained by police in Lagos after multiple individuals accused him of serious assault and abuse during ride bookings.
The arrest has sparked reactions online, especially after one alleged victim shared a detailed account of her experience and urged others with similar encounters to report to the Police Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba.
What began as a routine ride request has now developed into a growing investigation, with several alleged victims reportedly stepping forward. Consequently, authorities are expected to gather additional testimonies as part of ongoing inquiries into the case.
According to information shared on social media, the suspect was arrested and is currently being held at the Panti police facility. A video circulating online showed the man in handcuffs while at the station.
One of the alleged victims, identified as Ms Nhaomi, claimed she encountered the suspect on the day of her father’s funeral. She said she booked a ride through the transport platform with the intention of attending the ceremony.
According to her account, the driver allegedly diverted from the expected route and took her to another location. She further claimed that she was physically attacked and subjected to threats during the incident.
The woman alleged that the suspect threatened her life and stole several personal belongings. Among the items she claimed were taken were her mobile phone, passport, and jewelry reportedly worth millions of naira.
In addition, she said she had spent a long period seeking justice over the incident. Her recent social media post has since drawn significant public attention.
Calling for more witnesses to come forward, she wrote:
“If you have ever been a victim of this driver, Please be at Panti on Wednesday. Panti police station is at yaba.”

The appeal quickly gained traction online. Moreover, several social media users claimed they had seen previous allegations involving the same individual.
According to the victim, contact has already been established with some people who allegedly had similar experiences. Therefore, additional statements may be submitted to investigators.
Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities have not yet released detailed findings from their investigation. The allegations remain under investigation, and no court ruling has been made regarding the claims.
Furthermore, police are expected to review statements from all parties involved before deciding on the next legal steps.
