In what many did not expect, a major overnight security operation in Ogun State has led to the arrest of 146 suspects across Sagamu and nearby communities.
The large-scale raid, carried out in the early hours of April 13, 2026, has quickly drawn attention.
Authorities confirmed that the operation, named Operation Keep Sagamu Safe, was designed to tackle rising security concerns.
According to a statement by the police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the raid focused on key areas identified as potential crime hubs.
He explained that “the operation targeted identified flashpoints where criminal elements were suspected to be regrouping and posing threats to public safety.”
This approach ensured that the operation was not random. Instead, it was driven by specific intelligence and local insights.
Furthermore, the operation was not handled by the police alone. A joint team of security agencies was deployed to strengthen the mission.

These included the military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, and the Vigilante Group. Meanwhile, the Ogun State Community Security Corps also played a key role.
Officials noted that such partnerships are necessary to handle complex security challenges.
Following the arrests, all 146 suspects are currently undergoing screening. This process is expected to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities.
According to Babaseyi, those found guilty will be transferred for further investigation. In addition, they may face prosecution at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has commended the officers involved. He praised their professionalism and coordination during the operation.
Although investigations are still ongoing, the command reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-led policing.
Residents have also been urged to remain alert. Therefore, the public is encouraged to report suspicious movements through official channels.
