Veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly died after battling stage-four cancer.
His death was announced on Sunday, August 23, 2026, with his daughter, Kira Taiwo, reportedly confirming the development during an Instagram Live session.
The news comes days after Ogogo’s daughters made emotional appeals for urgent medical assistance for their father.

Kira had earlier revealed the seriousness of his condition and appealed to medical professionals with access to cancer treatment.
“What l’m here for, what I’m here for is that if you can treat my daddy, if you can start chemo for him, whether it’s medical or herbs, please, I’m begging you, guys, I’m begging you, any help, anything, anybody that you know that can treat cancer, please, please, I’m begging you,” she said.
The family had also expressed concern after hospitals reportedly could no longer continue his chemotherapy.
Kira previously described the emotional pain of watching her father battle the illness.
She said she had never seen him in such severe pain and recalled his fears about his condition.

The development has left colleagues, fans and members of the Yoruba film industry mourning the veteran actor.
The veteran actor was widely recognised for his long career in Yoruba cinema and his contributions to Nigeria’s film industry.
