Country Music Legend Dolly Parton Dies at 80 After Health Battle

Country music icon Dolly Parton has died at 80, bringing an end to a remarkable career spanning more than six decades.

The legendary singer died peacefully in Nashville on Tuesday, according to her family and representatives.

Her death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from fans and fellow entertainers worldwide. Parton became one of music’s most respected figures through her songs, films and business ventures.

The singer had recently spoken publicly about dealing with health problems. She had also reduced some appearances after experiencing health difficulties.

Parton was reportedly admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center days before her death. Reports said she was dealing with kidney and autoimmune issues.


Her death came months after the passing of her husband, Carl Dean, in March 2025. She had previously said she was “dealing with some health issues” after focusing on his care.

Despite those challenges, Parton continued working on several projects. Her career included music, acting, business and major charitable efforts.

She became globally known for songs such as “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.”
