The Kaduna State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against crime, leading to the arrest of suspected kidnappers, fraudsters, drug dealers, and car thieves across the state.
The police operatives arrested 12 suspected kidnappers, recovered stolen vehicles, and seized thousands of sachets of tramadol during a series of intelligence-led operations.
The latest Police Crackdown has also uncovered a suspected fraud network involving a man accused of deceiving more than 200 women and stealing their valuables after gaining their trust.
Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu disclosed the achievements during a press briefing in Kaduna. He highlighted recent successes in tackling kidnapping, armed robbery, homicide, drug trafficking, and vehicle theft.
According to the police chief, six suspected kidnappers were arrested on June 5 after intelligence reports revealed the movement of illegal firearms across state lines. Police operatives tracked the suspects to Sagamu in Ogun State following a coordinated manhunt.
Those arrested were identified as Bukar Bulama, Abubakar Mohammad, Mohammad Usman, Ibrahim Sani, Aliyu Usman, and Dan Bello Umaru. During the operation, two AK-47 rifles, a pump-action gun, a fabricated pistol, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and four cartridges were recovered.
Furthermore, the suspects were transferred to Kaduna for further investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Zaria arrested Yahya Alhaji Yusuf. Investigators said he allegedly confessed to involvement in kidnapping, cattle rustling, armed robbery, and banditry activities.
Police also revealed that he admitted participating in the kidnapping of two victims along the Buruku axis. A ransom of N6 million was reportedly collected during the operation. In addition, an AK-47 rifle was recovered from him.
Another discovery involved suspected serial fraudster Usama Tijjani. Investigators alleged that he lured women to hotels, gained their confidence, and stole valuable items from them.
According to police findings, the suspect confessed to deceiving more than 200 women. Gold jewellery worth over N30 million and 20 mobile phones were recovered during the investigation.
Meanwhile, 13 suspects were arrested over the deaths of two persons following witchcraft allegations in Katuga Unguwar Ruwa Village within Kagarko Local Government Area.

Police identified the suspects as Comfort Emmanuel and 12 others. Authorities said the incident later escalated into communal violence.
In the fight against drug trafficking, two suspects identified as Jamilu Ahmed and Mubarak Ibrahim were intercepted on June 10. A search led to the recovery of 2,700 sachets of tramadol.
Furthermore, the suspects allegedly confessed to supplying drugs across Zaria and nearby communities.
The Command also intensified efforts against vehicle theft. One stolen Golf III Station Wagon was recovered along the Kaduna-Abuja Road after the arrest of Shamsudeen Usman.
Moreover, three suspected members of a car-snatching syndicate were apprehended while attempting to sell a stolen Toyota Corolla LE. The vehicle was successfully recovered.
In a separate operation, detectives recovered a stolen Hyundai Sonata reported missing from Murtala Mohammed Square. The suspects reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled.
The Police Crackdown reflects the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and stronger collaboration with residents.
