Peter Okoye has told a Lagos court that he received more than $800,000 in SACEM royalties from P-Square songs.
The singer made the disclosure during cross-examination in the ongoing case involving his elder brother, Jude Okoye.
The proceedings were reported on 21 September 2026, with Peter testifying virtually before Justice Alexander Owoeye.
Peter was questioned by Clement Onwuewunor, SAN, who represents Jude in the case.
He confirmed that SACEM paid him about $800,000 from royalties linked to P-Square’s musical works.
However, Peter maintained that Jude did not receive any share of the money.
When asked if he told Jude about the payments, Peter replied, “No, the money was for the artists.”
The singer insisted that the royalties belonged to him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
He also rejected claims that Jude was entitled to the SACEM payments.
During the hearing, Peter maintained that Jude was not a member of P-Square.
Asked directly about Jude’s role in the group, he said, “Jude is not part of P-Square.”
Peter acknowledged that Jude directed some of P-Square’s music videos.
He, however, maintained that he and Paul wrote, composed and produced the group’s songs.
The court also examined the royalty records Peter requested from Jude in 2022.
Peter said the records covered payments between 2016 and 2022.
He explained that the documents were needed because some people showed interest in buying P-Square’s music catalogue.
Defence counsel said Peter requested the records on October 16, 2022.
The records were reportedly supplied six days later, on October 22.
Peter insisted that he had made an earlier request before October 16.
However, he could not provide evidence of that earlier request when challenged.
He admitted, “No. I don’t have any and I can’t recall.”
Peter also confirmed receiving the royalty statement from Jude.
The Peter Okoye SACEM royalties testimony forms part of the wider financial dispute involving the brothers.
Jude Okoye and Northside Music Limited are facing a seven-count EFCC charge.
The charges involve alleged fraud of N1.3 billion and $1 million.
Jude has pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
Peter also told the court that he had previously given Jude 25 percent of his SACEM earnings.
However, he denied that Jude was entitled to continue receiving payments after the royalties were reconciled.
The court adjourned further proceedings to 8 and 9 December 2026.
The case remains ongoing, and the allegations against Jude have not been established by a final court judgment.
