Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have recorded fresh operational successes following a series of intelligence-led raids that led to the arrest of a wanted armed robbery suspect and the recovery of stolen vehicles, drugs, and other exhibits.

The operations were carried out by the Anti-Cultism Sub-Unit of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) across different locations in the state.

In the first operation, officers acting on credible intelligence stormed the Nkwubor axis of Emene on 6th May 2026.

However, a suspected drug dealer identified as “Doc” fled the scene immediately on sighting the operatives.

Consequently, his shop was searched and a red Mate 90 ladies motorcycle was recovered alongside suspected hard drugs.

Furthermore, items recovered from the location included substances suspected to be cocaine, several wraps of cannabis sativa, and sachets of tramadol. In addition, seven mobile phones, a wristwatch, a black bag, and ₦8,000 cash were also seized during the operation.

In a separate operation conducted on 30th April 2026, operatives arrested a 34-year-old suspect identified as Uchenna Ezeh along Amagu-Ugwu Road in Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu. He had reportedly been declared wanted in connection with an armed robbery investigation.

Meanwhile, the suspect, who worked as a commercial mini-bus driver along the Garriki axis, allegedly confessed and later led officers to a mechanic workshop.

There, a stolen white Toyota Hiace bus marked “Morning Flight Nigeria Limited” with registration number NSK 643 ZY was recovered while being dismantled.

However, police authorities stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects linked to the cases. Investigations into both incidents have also commenced to determine the full extent of the criminal network.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, praised the operatives for their swift response and professionalism.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and sustained efforts to rid Enugu State of criminal activities.

In addition, the Command urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information that could aid ongoing operations.

Spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe also confirmed the developments, noting that the suspects will be charged to court after investigations are completed.
