APC Reveals Yayi’s Running Mate as Kudirat Balogun Ahead of 2027 Ogun State Election

In a move that has surprised many political observers, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has unveiled a top corporate executive as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

The party announced Mrs Kudirat Abiodun Balogun as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola popularly known as Yayi

Mrs Balogun’s emergence has generated significant interest across the state. Many party members and stakeholders view her nomination as a strategic move that could reshape discussions around leadership and governance in Ogun State.

The announcement was made following an APC Stakeholders’ Strategic Meeting held in Abeokuta.

During the gathering, Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed that the deputy governorship position had been zoned to Ogun East Senatorial District.

Consequently, consultations were held among party leaders to identify a suitable candidate from the zone.

According to Governor Abiodun, Mrs Balogun emerged as the preferred choice of Senator Adeola after careful consideration of several qualified aspirants.

Presenting her before party leaders, Senator Adeola expressed confidence in her ability to strengthen the party’s ticket.

He described her as a capable professional who would contribute meaningfully to the APC’s vision for Ogun State.

Furthermore, Ogun State APC Chairman, Alhaji Yemi Sanusi, officially confirmed the nomination.

He explained that the decision followed extensive consultations in line with the party’s zoning arrangement.

Sanusi noted that Mrs Balogun’s strong educational background and professional achievements distinguished her among other contenders.

Her experience covers finance, manufacturing, business development, governance, and operational management.

Currently, she serves as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director of Finance and Information Technology at Rite Foods Limited.

The company is widely recognised as one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous consumer goods manufacturers.

During her years at the company, she reportedly played a major role in driving business growth and expansion.

In addition, she contributed to strengthening operational systems and improving corporate performance.

Academically, Mrs Balogun possesses credentials from respected institutions in Nigeria and abroad. She earned a degree in Computer Science from the University of Lagos.

She also obtained a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Bayes Business School in London.

Furthermore, she is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Her professional development includes executive leadership programmes at Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.

Beyond the corporate world, Mrs Balogun has been associated with initiatives focused on economic empowerment and youth development.
