A quiet prayer session reportedly turned into a frightening ordeal for billionaire businessman Joseph Ezeokafor in Anambra State.
Ezeokafor, founder of Jezco Oil and Jezco Group, was reportedly abducted while praying alone on a mountain in Awka.
The businessman is also the father of Nigerian socialite Jowizaza and is regarded as one of Ekwulobia’s prominent businessmen.
According to lawyer Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, Ezeokafor went to the mountain alone for an overnight prayer session.
He reportedly went without his usual security personnel and police escorts before the alleged abduction occurred.
Iwuchukwu claimed that unidentified gunmen seized the businessman during the prayer session and took him to an unknown location.
He disclosed the incident in a Facebook post, sparking concern among residents of Ekwulobia and the businessman’s associates.
Iwuchukwu said the community postponed its annual New Yam Festival following the reported abduction.
He said the festival had never previously been postponed, but residents considered the situation too serious for celebration.
In his account, Iwuchukwu described Ezeokafor as an “illustrious son” whose reported abduction had deeply affected the community.
He wrote:
“Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, a Nigerian billionaire businessman, the founder of Jezco Oil and the Jezco Group, who is also the father of Nigerian Instagram celebrity Jowizaza, was reportedly kidnapped last week from a bush in Awka, in Anambra State.
Apparently, the old man went to the mountain alone to pray and seek the face of God without his security details and his policemen attached to him as it has been a normal practice for the billionaire businessman in the past.
“In the course of the fervent prayers and his vulnerability, he was picked up by unknown gunmen who took him away to an unknown location.
“The community where he comes from, Ekwulobia, has been thrown into confusion and mourning ever since the news of the abduction broke in the community,” Iwuchukwu wrote.
The claims have not been independently verified in the information provided.
Further details about the alleged kidnapping, including the businessman’s whereabouts and any ransom demand, remain unclear.
