Residents of Obosi in Anambra State have been left in shock after a well-known billionaire spare parts dealer was allegedly exposed as the leader of a deadly kidnapping syndicate operating secretly from his luxury residence.
The suspect, popularly known as Fabulous, was widely recognised in Mgbuka Market for his successful spare parts business and flashy lifestyle.
However, police investigations reportedly uncovered a dark operation hidden behind the businessman’s public image.
According to reports, security operatives traced a stolen vehicle to his residence during an operation carried out on Sunday morning. What initially appeared to be a routine investigation reportedly turned into a deadly gun battle.
Sources claimed that when officers arrived at the compound, the suspect and members of his gang opened fire from inside the premises.
During the exchange of gunfire, one police officer was reportedly killed. Meanwhile, additional security personnel quickly arrived at the scene to support the operation.
The operation later collapsed after the suspects reportedly ran out of ammunition. Consequently, some gang members attempted to escape through the fence surrounding the property.
However, the businessman was reportedly arrested while trying to flee from the compound.
Security operatives who entered the residence reportedly made disturbing discoveries inside the luxury building. According to sources, eight kidnapped victims were rescued alive from the compound.
Among those rescued was said to be the Chief Executive Officer of Crown Hospital, Nkpor, who had allegedly been abducted days earlier.
Reports also claimed that kidnappers demanded a ransom of N500 million for the medical doctor before the rescue operation took place.
Furthermore, investigators reportedly uncovered areas inside the compound where stolen vehicles were dismantled for spare parts.
Sources also alleged that a shrine existed within the property and was linked to the gang’s criminal activities.

Meanwhile, reports claimed the suspect’s wife was aware of the illegal operations allegedly carried out within the compound.
Residents who gathered around the area after the arrest reportedly became angry following the discoveries made by police operatives.
Consequently, some residents allegedly set parts of the property on fire before security agencies restored order in the community.
By Tuesday, officials of the Anambra State Government reportedly demolished the buildings linked to the suspect as investigations continued.
The demolition exercise also attracted heavy attention from residents and traders across nearby communities.
Furthermore, security agencies have continued investigations into the alleged activities of the gang and possible links to other kidnapping operations within the state.
Meanwhile, many residents praised the police operation that led to the rescue of the victims and the arrest of the suspect.
Authorities are expected to continue interrogating those arrested as efforts intensify to uncover other members of the alleged syndicate.
