Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola case has taken a new turn following reports that the infected woman was flown out of the country by air ambulance.
The woman, identified in reports as the wife of a Swiss diplomat, was reportedly evacuated early in the morning from Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
According to ARISE News sources, the medical evacuation took place around 6am, with a medical aircraft waiting at the airport to transport her.
ARISE News reported that the woman was taken from Nigeria aboard a medical evacuation aircraft operating from the airport’s private jet wing.
Video footage reportedly showed the aircraft and its crew preparing to transport the patient.
However, the details surrounding her destination and current medical condition were not provided in the available report.

The report also claimed that the Federal Government planned to announce the evacuation after the aircraft had left Nigerian airspace.
As of the report, there was no direct statement from the Federal Government confirming the evacuation.
The woman reportedly travelled to Nigeria from Uganda before becoming ill. She was later admitted to a private hospital in Abuja, where she tested positive for Ebola.
The development prompted health authorities to trace people who may have had contact with her.
According to the information provided, 53 contacts were identified and placed under monitoring.
Contact tracing remains important in limiting the spread of Ebola, particularly when a confirmed patient has travelled internationally or received treatment at a healthcare facility.
The reported evacuation has raised questions about the patient’s ongoing treatment and the steps being taken to protect public health.
