A Nigerian man wanted in the UK has reportedly been arrested while preparing to fly from Ireland to Paris.
Edwin Omokhuale, 39, was detained at Dublin Airport by Irish police on Wednesday.
His arrest followed a UK warrant linked to an alleged $23 million fraud case.
Omokhuale was reportedly about to board his flight when officers from An Garda Síochána arrested him.
The case involves an Australian mining company that allegedly lost about $23 million in early 2023.
UK investigators believe fraudsters based in the country tricked company employees into sending funds.
The money was allegedly transferred into bank accounts controlled by those involved.
Omokhuale reportedly lived in the UK when the alleged fraud took place.
He is wanted by the UK’s National Crime Agency over money laundering allegations connected to the case.
Omokhuale was due to appear before a Dublin court on Thursday, September 10.
The court appearance is expected to begin the process of determining his possible return to the UK, authorities will then pursue the legal steps required for his extradition.
However, authorities in Ireland and the UK are now expected to work through the extradition process.
