“No More Questions” — Arise TV Ends Wike Aide’s Interview After Clash

An Arise TV interview with Lere Olayinka, aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, ended abruptly after a tense exchange.

The clash began when journalist Rufai Oseni asked Olayinka about Wike’s position on President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 campaign council controversy.

Olayinka refused to respond to questions from Rufai, saying he wanted the discussion handled differently.

“I don’t want to answer any questions from you. I want this conversation to be between reasonable human beings.

“People who will not describe other people as ‘Gbewudani’,” he said.

His response drew a strong reaction from another Morning Show anchor, Ayo Mairo.

Mairo reminded Olayinka that the programme had three anchors and expected him to engage all of them.

The Arise TV clash then reached a sudden end as Mairo stopped the interview.

“We take exception to that, Mr Olayinka. Before you came to this show, I’m sure that you are aware that we have three anchors on the show.

“Since you are coming to present yourself to the Morning Show, the onus is on you to present yourself to the three anchors, who are here based on their credibility,” Mairo said.

She then thanked Olayinka and said the interview could continue another time.

She further stated, “No more questions, since you don’t want to answer. We thank you very much for your time this morning and hope to see you again when you are ready to speak to the three of us,”
