Kaduna Abduction: Doctor, Hakimi’s Wife Kidnapped as Troops Launch Rescue Hunt

Troops have launched a search operation after gunmen abducted a medical doctor and Hakimi’s wife in Kaduna State.

The incident happened around 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, August 23, in Abu village, Sanga Local Government Area.

The victims were identified as Dr. Ezekiel Audu and the wife of the local Hakimi.

Security sources said troops from Sector 7, Sub-Sector 71, responded after receiving reports of the abduction.

The soldiers are part of Operation ENDURING PEACE and were deployed at Raga General Duty location.

Preliminary reports indicated that two local residents confronted the kidnappers as they fled with their victims.

The attackers reportedly opened fire during the confrontation, killing the two residents.

Following the incident, troops began rescue and offensive operations based on available intelligence.

Security personnel moved towards a suspected hideout where the kidnappers were believed to have taken the victims.

However, troops had not made contact with the kidnappers as of the latest update.

The military said efforts were continuing to locate the victims and arrest those behind the abduction.

The Kaduna abduction has also raised fresh concerns among residents over security in Sanga.

Security forces have increased surveillance around the affected communities as the operation continues.

Reacting to the incident, Bitrus J Amwenche questioned the effectiveness of the curfew.

“What is the point of imposing curfew when innocent citizens are being murdered and kidnapped in almost everyday.”

He added, “Yesterday attacked in Abu community, Sanga local government, kaduna state end two lives, two others kidnapped. Other measures should be immediately applied by the government of the state.”
