A family in Akwa Ibom is seeking answers after 25-year-old Joy Felix reportedly disappeared in Port Harcourt.
Joy was last seen about a month ago after telling her roommate she was visiting a man she met online.
The case has raised concern as her family continues efforts to determine what happened after the outing.
Her roommate, Princess Agu, said Joy informed her about meeting the man. She reportedly advised her against going alone.
“I asked not to go but she didn’t listen,” she said, explaining that she later contacted the man.
However, Joy reportedly stopped answering calls the following day. The man also allegedly failed to respond to calls.
Her landlord, Gift Ogbondah, recalled seeing Joy before she left the area.
“I was sitting in the front yard when the missing lady passed with a short dress where she said ‘my landlord I De come oo’,” he said.
Joy’s brother, Godwin Felix, said several people contacted him claiming they could help locate his sister.
He alleged that some of them later demanded money and scammed the family.
Godwin appealed to the Rivers State Government to intervene and support efforts to find Joy.
A friend of the missing woman also urged the Rivers State Police Command to investigate the case.
The disappearance has renewed concerns about meeting strangers from dating platforms without adequate safety measures.
The Arise TV presenter urged people to prioritise their safety when meeting online contacts.
The presenter stressed that finding a relationship or opportunity should never put someone’s life at risk.
