Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has stirred fresh conversations online after revealing that she destroyed the outfit she wore to the burial of late actor Alex Ekubo.

The revelation came days after the actor’s burial, a period when tributes and emotional messages have continued to pour in from colleagues and fans.

According to Angela, she was told that clothes worn to burial ceremonies should not be kept after the event. Therefore, she decided to get rid of the outfit and also inform her followers about the practice.

Sharing her reason, she wrote: “This is the outfit I wore to Alex’s burial. My Godmother said it is not good to have the cloth you wore to a burial around you; you burn them.”

Angela said she considered it important to pass the information to family members, friends, and supporters who follow her online activities.

In the video, the outfit could be seen burning as she carried out the act. Meanwhile, many social media users quickly reacted to the post, creating discussions across different platforms.

Some commenters agreed with the belief and claimed they had heard similar teachings from older relatives. In addition, others shared stories about customs observed in their communities after attending funerals.

However, not everyone shared the same view. Some social media users questioned the practice and wondered why the actress chose to make it public.

Despite the mixed reactions, Angela remained focused on the deeper message behind her post. She used the moment to reflect on life, loss, and the importance of prayers for loved ones.

She further stated: “So family and friends take note. I felt I should share this information. May the Lord keep and bless us with long life. Amen. Chai.”

The discussion comes as many Nigerians continue to mourn Alex Ekubo.
