A twist has emerged in the ongoing Oyo school abduction case after a newly released video showed one of the victims rejecting several claims that have circulated online in recent days.
The video, which has attracted widespread attention, features the abducted school principal addressing reports allegedly linked to her captors.
For weeks, discussions surrounding the abduction have been dominated by reports claiming that the kidnappers demanded a massive ransom, the release of certain individuals, and the implementation of Sharia law.
In the footage, the principal stated that information being circulated in some media reports does not reflect what is happening in captivity.
According to her, the reports have only complicated an already difficult situation.
She said:
“These are not true. Today makes it the 24th day that we have been in this place, and it seems that some people are making our problems more complicated.”
The principal further explained that some publications were shown to the captives while they remained in custody.
According to her, those reports contained information she described as inaccurate.
She stated:
“We were shown some print media where it was stated that these people that abducted us requested the release of some people, requested a billion naira, and requested Sharia to be entrenched in the country.”
She then firmly rejected the claims.
According to the principal:
“These are not true.”
Meanwhile, concerns remain high among parents, teachers, and residents who are anxiously waiting for the safe return of those still in captivity. Such reports, they argue, may interfere with ongoing operations and public understanding of events.
Several stakeholders, including community leaders, education groups, and government officials, have continued to call for urgent action to secure the release of the victims.
Meanwhile, rescue efforts by security agencies remain ongoing.
Authorities have not officially commented on the principal’s latest claims regarding the alleged ransom demands and other reported conditions.
