The Sylvester Abayomi death case has taken a dramatic turn after two men were handed lengthy prison sentences for a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Nigerian man in Manchester, United Kingdom.
The tragedy happened in March 2026 when Sylvester Abayomi was driving to work.
Authorities have now sentenced the two men involved to a combined 24 years behind bars. The judgment comes after investigators uncovered evidence showing dangerous driving, excessive speeding, and an alleged attempt to avoid responsibility after the collision.
According to police findings, driver Uways Hussain was sentenced to 11 years and eight months in prison. Meanwhile, passenger and vehicle owner Usmon Mahmood received 12 years and nine months behind bars.
Investigators revealed that both men spent the night driving recklessly through South Manchester. Moreover, recovered footage reportedly showed speeds exceeding 100mph on roads where the speed limit was only 30mph.
The case became even more disturbing after police discovered videos allegedly recorded during the journey. The footage reportedly showed the pair reaching speeds of up to 139mph. In addition, several traffic lights were ignored as the vehicle moved dangerously through traffic.
At about 4:36 a.m., Abayomi lawfully entered the junction of Green End Road and Kingsway. However, Hussain’s vehicle reportedly sped through a red light before crashing into his car.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and attempted to save him. Unfortunately, the injuries sustained during the collision proved fatal.
Furthermore, investigators said vehicle data confirmed the Volkswagen Golf reached 139mph moments before impact.
The court also heard that an automatic crash alert from Hussain’s Apple Watch captured conversations after the collision.
Moreover, authorities claimed they talked about removing evidence and falsely reporting the vehicle as stolen. They later booked an Uber in an effort to leave the area.
Despite those efforts, police officers quickly launched an investigation. Therefore, both suspects were tracked down and arrested within 12 minutes of receiving the first emergency report.
The case has attracted significant attention across the United Kingdom.
Furthermore, many people have pointed to the devastating consequences of excessive speeding on public roads.
