Barcelona have reportedly made a decisive transfer call on midfielder Fermin Lopez, following growing interest from Chelsea this summer.
Despite being used sparingly in the 2024/25 campaign, Lopez attracted significant attention from Premier League clubs, sparking talk of a possible move.
The 22-year-old featured in just 12 La Liga matches under Hansi Flick, yet still netted six goals an impressive return for a player not regularly starting.
His limited playing time, however, has not gone unnoticed by Chelsea, who are reportedly in search of a new midfield spark ahead of the upcoming season.
According to reports from Diario Sport, the Blues submitted a substantial €75 million bid for Lopez.

This came as part of manager Enzo Maresca’s summer rebuild following Chelsea’s dramatic qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Meanwhile, El Chiringuito had earlier revealed that Chelsea were preparing to open talks with Barcelona to secure the talented Spaniard.
Moreover, Mundo Deportivo has revealed that Chelsea went further by offering a player exchange deal to sweeten the negotiations.
France international Christopher Nkunku was included in the proposed swap, as Chelsea aimed to offload the injury-plagued forward who has struggled for form since his move from RB Leipzig.
However, Barcelona are not entertaining any talks of a transfer.
Manager Hansi Flick reportedly views Fermin Lopez as a key squad member due to his flexibility and ability to contribute goals when needed.
Even though Lopez plays second fiddle to Dani Olmo, the club has expressed no intention of letting him go.
In fact, Lopez has already shown his commitment to the club by penning a long-term contract that ties him to Barcelona until 2029.
He has also denied any suggestions of seeking an exit, remaining focused on his development and future at Camp Nou.

The uncertainty surrounding Frenkie de Jong’s future is also believed to be working in Lopez’s favor.
The Dutchman’s contract ends in 2026, and with a renewal yet to be activated, Barcelona may be looking toward Lopez to step into a bigger role in midfield.
Despite not being a consistent starter, Lopez’s strong performances have ensured he remains part of Barcelona’s long-term plans.
The rejected Chelsea bid only reinforces the club’s belief in his potential and importance to the squad.
Barcelona’s refusal to accept the €75 million offer or entertain the Nkunku exchange deal suggests they are determined to build around their young talents, even if they aren’t playing every week.
