The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 39 suspects over alleged crimes across the state, including major infrastructure vandalism.
The arrests followed operations targeting the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and the Third Mainland Bridge.
Police also displayed a truck loaded with cartons of spaghetti during the parade. The vehicle was allegedly linked to a separate case involving diverted goods.
Commissioner of Police Tijani Olayiwola Fatai disclosed the arrests during a briefing on the command’s August 2026 operations.
According to Fatai, 10 suspects were arrested over alleged vandalism along the Coastal Road. Police recovered vandalised iron materials and cables during the operation.
The suspects allegedly gave statements about their involvement. Police said investigations would continue before possible prosecution.
The command also arrested 28-year-old Chidiebere Ochiri over alleged vandalism on the Third Mainland Bridge.
Police said CCTV cables, iron materials and other government infrastructure were allegedly stolen. Some copper wire was reportedly recovered from the suspect.
Fatai said the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road vandalism raised serious concerns because the project is important to transportation and economic activity.
The commissioner also disclosed several other arrests across Lagos. Police recovered locally made firearms, cartridges, cutlasses, knives and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
In Aguda, officers arrested a 22-year-old suspect allegedly carrying a locally made pistol and cartridge. Another firearm was later recovered at a hotel.
Police also arrested suspected cult members in Aguda, Isolo and Ijeshatedo during separate operations.

The command further reported the arrest of a trailer driver over alleged diversion of goods. Cartons of spaghetti were reportedly found inside the trailer.
Fatai warned those targeting public infrastructure that the command would continue its crackdown.
He said police would work with the Ministry of Works and other agencies to protect critical projects.
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road vandalism case remains under investigation, while police said suspects would face prosecution where evidence supports the allegations.
