The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran actor and respected theatre scholar, Pa Kola Oyewo.
The legendary actor, who was born on March 27, 1946, reportedly passed away on June 12, 2026.
His death has come as a painful shock to many fans and colleagues.
For decades, Pa Kola Oyewo remained one of the most respected figures in Yoruba theatre and Nollywood.
Pa Oyewo began his professional acting journey in 1964 after joining the renowned Oyin Adejobi Theatre Group. His first role was Adejare in Orogun Adedigba, a production based on Oyin Adejobi’s autobiography.

Some of his notable appearances include Koseegbe (1995), where he played Mako, Sango (1997), O Le Ku(1997) as Oloye Ajasa, and Saworoide (1999). In addition, he featured in Efunsetan Aniwura (2005), Yemoja(2011), and Omo University (2015).
His later works included Ayomi (2015), Ewon Laafin (2015), Ofeefe – Mirage (2019), Oba Bi Olorun (2021), Oosa Aafin (2022), Olukoti (2022), and Ogeere (2023).
Although details concerning his passing are yet to be revealed.
