Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested two brothers suspected of supplying logistics to suspected ISWAP fighters during a routine security operation in Borno State.
The arrest is being seen as another move to disrupt supply networks believed to be supporting insurgent activities in Nigeria’s North-East.
The suspects were intercepted during a farm protection patrol in Damboa Local Government Area. Moreover, security sources believe the operation prevented vital supplies from reaching suspected terrorist elements operating within the region.
The latest development highlights the military’s continued efforts to weaken insurgent operations beyond direct combat. Consequently, attention has shifted toward individuals allegedly responsible for moving food, equipment and other supplies to armed groups hiding in remote communities.
The ISWAP logistics suspects were reportedly arrested during an operation carried out by troops of the 19 Battalion (Mechanised) alongside the 25 Task Force Brigade Garrison.
The development was disclosed by counter-insurgency and security analyst Zagazola Makama through a post shared on X.
According to Makama, the suspects have been identified as 25-year-old Audu Abdullahi and his 30-year-old brother, Shettima Abdullahi.
Both men are said to be natives of Kasabalari village in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The arrest reportedly took place around 10:30 a.m. on July 19.
It occurred in the Nzuda general area during an ongoing farm protection patrol.
According to preliminary findings, the brothers were allegedly transporting supplies meant for suspected ISWAP fighters operating around the Wajiroko axis.
Meanwhile, security personnel recovered several items believed to be linked to the operation.
Among the recovered items were two bicycles.
One mobile phone containing two SIM cards was also recovered.
In addition, troops recovered an identity card.
Two bicycle tyres and tubes were found during the operation.
Furthermore, six containers of Force Up pesticide were reportedly seized.
Pain relief medication and a small solar panel were also recovered.
The military equally found a rechargeable torchlight with its battery.
Two locally made knives and several other items were also recovered from the suspects.
Investigations are currently ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the alleged mission.
Providing further details, Makama stated:
“The arrest forms part of ongoing farm protection operations and sustained efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics networks supporting insurgent activities in the North-East.”
He further explained that security forces remain vigilant despite the recent success.
According to him:
“The security situation across the theatre remains relatively calm but unpredictable, while troops continue to maintain a high level of operational readiness and pressure on terrorist elements.”
Meanwhile, military operations have continued across different parts of the North-East.
Security agencies have intensified surveillance to prevent insurgents from rebuilding their supply chains.
Without access to supplies, communication tools and essential equipment, insurgent operations become more difficult to sustain.
The military has also urged residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
