Sowore Slams MTN Over Data Depletion Claims

A fresh controversy has erupted in Nigeria’s telecom sector after strong allegations were made against MTN.

The issue has raised serious questions about transparency and consumer protection. It has also brought renewed scrutiny to how telecom services are delivered.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore sparked the debate after accusing MTN of unfair practices.

Sowore did not hold back in his criticism of the telecom giant. He said, “We have to go after MTN, they’re the biggest data thieves in the world today. You’ll buy 5k worth of data and by the time you wake up, it would have disappeared. MTN is looting your data and by extension, they’re destroying your life.”

Furthermore, his statement has resonated with many users.

Meanwhile, the conversation has shifted toward accountability. Consumers are demanding clearer explanations from service providers.

In addition, Sowore called for urgent action to address the situation. He stressed the need for proper oversight in the telecom industry.

He added, “We cannot continue to allow this kind of exploitation to go unchecked. Nigerians are working hard to earn money, only for their data to vanish without explanation. There must be accountability and proper scrutiny of these telecom companies.”

However, MTN Nigeria has not yet issued an official response to the allegations. This silence has further fueled public curiosity.

In addition, clearer communication from telecom companies is being demanded.

Therefore, the situation may require both technical awareness and regulatory action.
