Veteran Nollywood actor Sunday Afolabi has opened up about a difficult chapter in his life. The actor became emotional while recalling how financial pressure affected his career and family.
Afolabi shared his experience during an interview with Biola Adebayo on the Talk to B podcast. He explained that relocating to Badagry brought unexpected challenges to his acting career.
The actor said he moved to Badagry because he wanted to own a home. However, the decision reportedly made it harder to secure regular acting and photography jobs.
As his financial situation worsened, Afolabi said he could no longer maintain his Nissan Quest. He eventually sold the vehicle and bought a used motorcycle to survive.
“I actually sold my Nissan Quest to buy a fairly used motorcycle,” Afolabi said.
He revealed that the car was sold for N180,000. The veteran actor also admitted that he was not familiar with motorcycles.
According to him, he suffered several falls while riding the motorcycle. Meanwhile, his struggles also affected his wife and children, making the period particularly painful.

Afolabi recalled meeting a man who recognised him as a former television star. The man reportedly expressed surprise after seeing the actor struggling financially.
The man told him, “You are a TV star, if you don’t know what to do, go back to the city and meet your people.”
Despite the hardship, Afolabi said he remains determined to work rather than depend on others. He explained that begging for food is something he strongly dislikes.
“What I h@te most in my life is to beg for food. I would rather do any legitimate job,” he said.
The actor added that he would gladly work as an Uber driver if he had access to a suitable car. His story has since drawn attention to the challenges facing some veteran entertainers.
Following the revelation, Biola Adebayo appealed for public support through her platform. She expressed hope of helping Afolabi secure transportation, improved accommodation and a reliable source of income.
