President Bola Tinubu has ordered an urgent manhunt for the gunmen behind the deadly attack on Naridon Village in Kaduna State, following a brutal midnight assault that left about 30 people dead, including eight children.
The President directed the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force and intelligence agencies to immediately intensify operations across the affected area.
President Tinubu insisted that criminal groups would not be allowed to threaten the peace recently recorded in parts of Kaduna.
The directive came shortly after reports confirmed the deadly raid on Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area.
The order was conveyed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, security agencies have been instructed to strengthen ongoing operations and increase surveillance across vulnerable communities. In addition, intelligence gathering is expected to be expanded to prevent similar attacks.
“I have directed the Armed Forces, police and relevant intelligence agencies to intensify operations across the affected areas to track down the perpetrators swiftly and restore normalcy to the region,” Tinubu said.
The President described the incident as a senseless attack against innocent citizens.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s security system through better equipment, stronger coordination and sustained operations against criminal groups.
“Our administration has an unwavering commitment to strengthening security infrastructure, equipping response personnel and neutralising criminal networks attempting to disrupt the peace of the nation,” he added.
Meanwhile, residents of the affected community have continued to count their losses after homes were destroyed during the overnight attack. Several buildings were reportedly set on fire as frightened villagers fled for safety.
Emergency responders and security personnel have remained in the area. Search operations have also been intensified while efforts are being made to restore calm and reassure residents.
The President also appealed to members of the public to support security agencies with useful information that could assist ongoing investigations.
“I urge our local communities to cooperate with security forces by providing actionable intelligence that would help early response efforts,” he said.
According to available reports, the attackers stormed Naridon Village during the early hours of Monday. They reportedly opened fire on residents before setting houses ablaze, leaving widespread destruction behind.
Although investigations are still ongoing, authorities believe intelligence from local communities could play an important role in identifying those responsible. Therefore, residents have been encouraged to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
The Federal Government maintained that lasting peace remains a top priority. Moreover, security agencies have been directed to sustain pressure on armed groups operating across affected communities.
Tinubu also expressed sympathy to the families who lost loved ones in the tragedy. He extended his condolences to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.
Describing the incident as a “barbaric and cowardly attack,” the President said those attempting to undermine peace in Kaduna would not escape justice.
