Former Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel, has shared his strong belief that Victor Osimhen should continue his career in Europe rather than accept a move to the Saudi Pro League.
The former Chelsea midfielder expressed his view that Osimhen still has a lot to offer at the highest level, urging him to consider clubs like Manchester United or Arsenal.
This comes as transfer rumours continue to swirl around the Napoli forward.
While Saudi club Al-Hilal is keen on signing the Nigerian striker, and Galatasaray are reportedly preparing a move, the Premier League remains a potential destination.
Osimhen came close to joining Chelsea last summer, but the deal reportedly fell through in the final stages.

In an interview with Metro, Mikel said,
“I hope there is still a Premier League move for him this summer. I think the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United still need a striker.”
The former Nigerian captain believes Osimhen has what it takes to perform in top leagues.

He made it clear that a move to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career may not be ideal.
“I don’t want to see him in Saudi right now because he still has so much to offer in Europe. It would be a shame to see him go there.”
Mikel went further, highlighting Manchester United’s need for a reliable striker.
“I don’t think [Rasmus] Højlund is the guy for Manchester United. He works hard, but he’s not the one to get them back in the top four or win trophies. For me, Manchester United might be the destination.”
Moreover, Mikel shared his disappointment over Chelsea missing out on the Napoli forward.

He admitted Osimhen could have made a big impact at Stamford Bridge, especially considering the striker’s admiration for the club.
“Everyone knows who I wanted to see come to the football club and who the fans wanted,” he said.
“It’s a shame he didn’t join Chelsea, the club he supported as a kid. But the club has gone in a different direction by signing Delap, and that’s fine.”
Chelsea have recently signed Liam Delap from relegated Ipswich Town.
While Mikel respects the decision, he emphasized the value of bringing in a proven striker with experience in major tournaments.
“I would’ve loved to see someone come in and hit the ground running someone who knows how to perform in big games and big competitions. Still, we have to support Delap and hope for the best.”
Therefore, while Saudi clubs continue to offer attractive deals, many football figures including Mikel believe Osimhen should delay such a move.
His potential Premier League switch could shape the 2025–26 season and bring new energy to whichever top club secures his signature.
