An incident in Plateau State has left many Nigerians demanding justice after a popular model reportedly died following a brutal assault over an alleged iPhone theft.
The victim, identified as Ibrahim Mbaya, popularly known as Ibee, reportedly lost his life after he was accused of stealing an iPhone in Jos. However, instead of being handed over to security agencies for investigation, he was allegedly attacked by a group of people.
The incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for those responsible to be identified and prosecuted.
Meanwhile, the tragedy has once again highlighted the growing concerns surrounding mob justice in Nigeria, especially in cases where suspects are denied the opportunity to defend themselves before the law.
The incident reportedly happened on Sunday, July 26, 2026, around the Ring Road area of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to available information, Mbaya, who worked as a chef and was also a contestant in the Mr. and Miss Glam Nigeria 2026 competition, was accused of stealing an iPhone.
Despite denying the allegation, the situation quickly turned violent.
Rather than reporting the matter to the police or allowing the legal process to take its course, some individuals allegedly assaulted him with different weapons.
After the assault, Mbaya was rushed to a hospital in Jos for medical treatment.
However, despite efforts to save his life, he later died from the injuries he sustained during the attack.
