Thousands of travelers and business professionals could face disruptions after Kuwait temporarily suspended commercial visit visas, including those frequently used by Nigerians for business trips.
The decision has created uncertainty among companies and travelers who depend on short-term business visits to Kuwait. Moreover, the suspension takes effect immediately, leaving many planned trips hanging in the balance.
Commercial visit visas have long served as a key route for foreign professionals entering Kuwait for meetings, conferences, contract discussions, and other business activities.
The visa suspension is already attracting attention because no official explanation has been provided by Kuwaiti authorities. Consequently, businesses with ongoing engagements in the Gulf nation are reviewing their travel arrangements.
According to available information, the suspension affects all nationalities and is not limited to Nigerians alone.
Reports indicate that commercial visit visas are typically issued through registered companies in Kuwait. These permits usually allow a single entry and remain valid for up to 30 days.
Furthermore, the visa category is commonly used by business executives, consultants, investors, and corporate representatives attending professional events and meetings.
With the measure now in place, new applications under the category will no longer be processed. Therefore, planned corporate visits may be postponed or cancelled until further clarification emerges.

According to a report by Fragomen, Kuwaiti authorities have not released a reason for the policy change.
The report stated that the suspension remains effective “until further notice.”
Meanwhile, immigration experts and travel advisers are encouraging affected individuals to stay informed through official government channels.
In addition, companies with scheduled engagements in Kuwait are being advised to explore alternative arrangements where possible.
However, authorities have yet to indicate whether the suspension is linked to immigration reviews, administrative reforms, or broader policy adjustments.
Meanwhile, travelers who already hold valid visas should continue to monitor official updates regarding their travel status and eligibility.
