Speaking at a press briefing, the FCT Commissioner of Police highlighted the command’s dedication to ensuring the security of residents.

“In a sustained effort to rid the Federal Capital Territory of crimes and ailments, the FCT Police Command has intensified its operations, carrying out a series of high-impact raids,” he stated.

To dismantle criminal hideouts, the command deployed specialized tactical teams to conduct targeted operations in high-risk areas, including Dede, Karu, Guaripa, Jigoi, Karimu, and Maitama.

Moreover, anti-kidnapping clearance operations were launched in forested areas bordering the FCT, such as the Gida Ndogo village, Kweri forest, Guaraka forest, and Saldanha forest.

These efforts have significantly disrupted criminal activities in these notorious corridors.

Furthermore, the police focused on abandoned buildings that criminals often use as hideouts.

These locations are now under continuous monitoring to prevent further illegal activities.

The command assured residents that such operations would be sustained to curb crime effectively.

As a result of these operations, a total of 300 suspects were apprehended and are currently undergoing profiling.

Those found guilty will face prosecution, while those cleared will be released.

Notably, 59 suspected robbers, 10 kidnappers and their informants, and 16 other criminals were arrested.

In active confrontations, 9 armed robbers and 7 kidnappers were neutralized.

Additionally, the police recovered a large cache of dangerous weapons, including:

  • 18 AK-47 rifles
  • 23 AK-47 magazines
  • 2 Z-Scorpion AY rifles and magazines
  • 9 English pistols
  • 7 locally made pistols
  • 4 locally made shotguns
  • 116 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition
  • 102 rounds of 0.9mm live ammunition
  • Several locally made bombs and daggers

In addition, several packages containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, bottles of codeine syrup, and other intoxicants were confiscated.

The command also seized cash amounting to ₦28,000 and rifles recovered from a separate operation involving individuals attempting to sell arms to bandits.

The FCT Police Command remains resolute in its mission to make Abuja a safer place.

The Commissioner of Police commended officers for their bravery and dedication, emphasizing the need for continued cooperation from residents.

“We call on all residents to support the police by providing timely information and reporting suspicious activities,” he urged.

Furthermore, the police assured the public that all suspects in custody would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted accordingly.

As operations continue, residents can expect increased security efforts to ensure that criminals have no hiding place in the FCT.

This sustained effort by the police not only highlights their commitment but also reinforces the importance of community engagement in fighting crime.

If such dedication continues, the FCT and the country at large will be a much safer place for all.
