Eight members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) were on Wednesday abducted Araromi Opin and obbo Ile in Hati LGA of Kwara State.
They were reportedly kidnapped while returning from inauguration of the Kwara chapter of the APC state executive committee from Ilorin.
This news broke on Thursday by a relative of one of the victims in Ilorin, Adekunle Oluwole. According to him, he said five of the eight people involved had escaped from the kidnappers.
He also listed those involved as the isapa ward chairman in Ekiti local government area of the state, Mr Daniel Adewuyi, the Eruku ward chairman, Women leader Eruku, Women leader obbo Ile, chairman obbo Ile ward, and women leader Koro ward and women leader isapa ward, among others.
Adekunle added that the member representing Ekiti constituency at the state house of assembly, Mr Ganiyu Abolarin, and the Ekiti local government APC chairman, Mr Wale Awelewa were at the hospital where some of the victims were rushed after they escaped on Wednesday.
It was reported that some of the victims have been discharged from the hospital. Oluwole also confirmed that four Hilt vehicles fully loaded with members of the Nigerian Army had been deployed to the Area to arrest the kidnappers.
The police spokesman in Kwara, Ajayi Okasanmi said we had to be briefed about the kidnapping. Okasanmi however promised to keep the panic subsided concerning the situation.
