Relief have followed the arrest of three suspected kidnappers in Edo State after one of their victims reportedly spotted a gang member at a local market in Jattu community.
The suspects were arrested after the victim immediately alerted police operatives, triggering a swift response that led to their capture.
The development has been described as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping in the state.
The case gained momentum after a survivor, Ibrahim Jemila, who was abducted and later released on May 13, identified one of his alleged attackers in public.
According to police authorities, Jemila reported the sighting at the Jattu Police Division on May 15.
Moreover, his information led to a coordinated operation between the Edo Police Command and the Edo State Security Corps.
Security operatives were then mobilized to the area where the suspects were tracked and arrested.
Police spokesperson, ASP Eno Okoedem, confirmed the arrest in an official statement released on Wednesday.
She stated that three suspects, identified as Nura Dahiru, Ibrahim Yakubu, and Abubakar Inusa, were taken into custody during the operation.
“The suspects were arrested following credible intelligence and quick response by operatives in Jattu,” the statement explained.

Furthermore, the police said two of the suspects were positively identified by victims as members of the kidnapping gang.

Meanwhile, security officials described the arrest as an important step in dismantling kidnapping networks operating in the area.
In addition, police authorities emphasized that community cooperation played a key role in tracking down the suspects.
However, investigations are still ongoing to identify other members of the gang who remain at large.
Authorities assured residents that efforts have been intensified to prevent further attacks and ensure public safety.
