Boris Johnson pledged to fight on against mountainous pressure to resign as British prime minister, but his defiance was met with yet more ministerial resignations and derision from a growing number of his own conservative prime ministers .

A dozen ministers was reported to have resigned as Boris Johnson bleeding support on Wednesday, left his position as British Prime Minister in grave doubt

The action by ministers came as suggested Cabinet minister Michael Gove had privately told Mr Johnson it was time for him to go.Kemi Badenoch, Neil O’Brien, Alex Burghart, Lee Rowley, Julia Lopez and Mims Davies, resigned from Johnson’s government on Wednesday.

The mass resignation of ministers, along with a string of parliamentary aides, came after Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid quit their Cabinet posts on Tuesday evening.However, speaking today to MPs, the embattled leader said; “The job of a Prime Minister in difficult circumstances when he has been handed a colossal mandate is to keep going and that’s what I’m going to do.”Robin Walker had also resigned as schools standards minister, telling the prime minister the “great achievements” of the government have become “overshadowed by mistakes and questions about integrity”.
