Abba Kyari not Reinstated-Frank MBA Debunks Fake News

Contrary to the news going round yesterday that the erstwhile commander of the Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari was been reinstated by the Inspector General of Police, However, The Force spokesman, Frank Mba, debunked the news & calls it false.

Abba Kyari was suspended on the 31st of July 2021 following his indictment by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

However, there had been speculations that Kyari was secretly recalled by the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, but sources in the police force has confirmed that the DCP is still on suspension.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police is still under investigation for allegedly fraternizing with a suspected Internet fraudster, Abbas Ramon, commonly known as Hushpuppi.

The FBI alleged that Kyari connived with Hushpuppi to defraud a Qatari businessman of $1.1m.

The Inspector General of Police on Thursday, gave an update on the DCP’s case. According to the IGP who made it known that the embattled officer had been queried and the police were working with the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Attorney -General of the Federation for appropriate sanction on Abba Kyari.

The Inspector General of Police also added that the panel constituted to investigate the case had submitted its report to the SGF, Boss Mustapha, for vetting and advice on the findings.

He further stated that they recently got feedback from the SGF and were contemplating their next step, and has not received any extradition request for the suspended DCP, he said.
