Good news is emerging from Ibafo after a tense police operation, in which detectives have busted a suspected child-stealing gang in the area.
Three suspects are now behind bars, their arrest also led to the rescue of three innocent children.
This Ogun child-stealing gang bust began with a tip-off and sharp police work, detectives arrested Kikelomo Jimoh, 36, as their first major lead.
Under questioning, she allegedly gave up key information, which led police straight to the home of Blessing Anochike, 60.
The Officers found three children in her custody, all three were rescued and are now confirmed safe.
Police also arrested a third suspect, Kayode Elizabeth, investigators say all three worked together in the alleged crime.
The rescued children were identified as Christiana Olowokere, 14, Olamilekan Abdurusheed, 16, and Adeniji Rebecca, 12, each of their cases carries disturbing details.
Reports say Christiana was allegedly sold for N500,000, and Olamilekan reportedly ran away from home before he was allegedly abducted by the gang.
The situation involving Rebecca remains under active investigation, the police are still working to understand how she ended up in the suspects’ custody.
The Ogun child-stealing gang bust has now moved to a deeper stage of investigation, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the Ibafo detectives for their fast response, and he commended their commitment to protecting vulnerable children in the state.
He assured residents that police remain focused on dismantling criminal networks, he also urged the public to stay alert and report suspicious activity.
